The story began many years ago when the parents of the school required out-of-school care. Originally a small pre-school group has now grown into a vibrant nursery and after-school club. Our management team has been fundamental to our success and is made up of parents, management, the church, and the wider community. These dedicated individuals volunteer their own time and they bring with them many skills.
We are situated in the grounds of All Saints C.E. Primary School and are very lucky to be surrounded by large playing fields and local woods. Little Acorns Nursery is based in what was once the school's reception class and we are located at the front of the school with a great outdoor space and our Sunrise and Sunset Club has its own place within the school.
Over the years we have developed our provision into a wonderful environment for children to play, learn and thrive.
We have been providing high-quality childcare since 2003.
Through many years of experience, we know that continuity of care ensures positive relationships with children and their families and promotes high-quality care and education. There is nothing worse for a child’s development and care than to experience constantly changing faces due to staff turnover. Our overriding aim is to ensure that this does not happen in our organisation. We are a small team and many of us have worked together since we have been established. During this time all staff have been supported to gain higher qualifications, achieve together and follow their personal ambitions.
Forgive us we are all camera-shy!
Gill Isherwood - Our graduate manager has been with us for over a decade, and she is hands-on and works with the children every day. She is as enthusiastic as ever and takes a real interest in every child, lends a friendly ear to all parents and carers, and works hard to support and develop her staff.
Louise Morley - Deputy Manager has been with us from the very start and has just completed her Level 5 qualification, well done! Again she is hands-on and works with the children every day and supports the manager and staff with everything in the nursery.
Karl Brannon - was our first apprentice almost 17 years ago. We were very fortunate to recruit this young man; he has such empathy for play and its importance to a child’s development.
Diane Taylor - has just celebrated over a decade with us. One of Diane’s main responsibilities is to help support literacy, language and communication in nursery. is our Parental Involvement coordinator who is responsible for ensuring family events take place.
Julie Mather - brings many years of experience. Julie is really enjoying working with us and us with her.
Barbara Rawson - is the newest member of our team with many years of childcare and education experience.
Together as a team, we were one of the first nurseries to be awarded the Lancashire Kitemark,
This included the first two sections, 'The Lancashire Quality Award in Early Years Pedagogy' and 'Step with Boys Lancashire Quality Award'.
We describe ourselves as vibrant, well-motivated individuals who work well as a team to ensure your child’s experience is one they’ll cherish and look back on with fond memories.
